Anything but a discontinued line

For some electric mobility enthusiasts, the term “shifter cable” sounds almost like a bygone era, like “crankcase”, “tank” or “exhaust”. But all these components are far from being obsolete. It's true: no matter what transmission or drive system, modern vehicles with only a small switch/button on the centre console or a selector lever on the steering wheel no longer have a shifter cable. Here, it is simply the electronics that relay the gearshift request defined by the driver.

At the same time, however, cars in Germany are being driven for increasingly longer. In 2022, their average age was a proud 10.1 years. By way of comparison, in 2012 the figure was 8.5 years, and in 2000 it was only 6.9. This can be explained on the one hand by the increased quality of vehicles, and on the other hand certainly by consumers' growing cost awareness. Added to this is the shortage of new cars caused by the shortage of semiconductors. Young used cars are rare on the market. Shifter cables for manual transmissions are therefore far from being old hat. We have therefore built up our corresponding portfolio to now include 69 items for 4,501 applications.
